How Changing My View of Meditation Turned It Into a Daily Practice

I remember when I first began exploring spirituality and connection. Meditation was suggested most. I would try to sit or lie down, relax, and breathe, but it was very difficult for me to silence my thoughts and mental loops. I often caught myself wondering how much time had passed and going through my to do list for the rest of the day. This left me tired, frustrated, and with the false belief that I just couldn’t meditate.

I still believe that meditation is one of the best ways to connect to the Higher Self, guides, or higher dimensions. This has also been confirmed within my sessions when asking the Higher Selves of clients on how to connect. The answer was always the same: “find a moment of silence” or to “meditate”.

However, meditation does not have to done in the traditional way that we envision it. Its not always about sitting with legs crossed, eyes closed, focusing on your breath, and ignoring distraction.

Through my own experience, I have found other ways that have become a form of meditation that works for me:

  • Listening to music
(here is my Spotify playlist that includes music I use to connect)
  • Journaling without editing
  • Walking and/or spending time in nature
  • Taking a shower
  • Driving
  • Cooking
  • Doing the dishes

Doing the dishes and listening to music is the first time I was able to have a conversation with what was providing me with insight. It told me that I was trying too hard, and that created resistance followed by static for them to communicate with me.

A little before this encounter, I went into hibernation mode and decided to pause all attempts to follow everything I read in books or online. My guides had been right. At that time, I had been trying way too hard practicing what worked for others rather than using it as guide to discover my own way to connect.

I used to believe that the source to connect was found in the spiritual realms. But I have since discovered that for my energetic system, what works best for me is to be grounded.

The warm water and repetitive movement would relax my mind, while the music would keep the left side of my brain calm and the right side open, almost putting me into a light trance.

These everyday actions bring us into the present and ground us. Remember, we are all beings made up of vibrating energy. Just like electricity and other frequencies such as those used for radio transmissions. Grounding allowed proper function, especially for high voltage (higher dimensions), stabilization, reception, and interference reduction.

But we are all radiating different frequencies and voltages, which is why one particular thing doesn’t work for everyone. You need to find what works for your specific requirements. As I mentioned in a previous post, there is no good, bad, right, or wrong. They do not exist outside of your ego and the personality; everything is information available for you to make the choices that align best with and for you.

These everyday actions also anchor us into the present. The repetitive patterns strengthen the mind-body connection which can also induce a meditative state.

Redefining meditation as an act of being fully present was like a key that opened many channels and portals for me.

Find the everyday action or combination of actions that brings awareness of the self, awareness of your surroundings, and awareness of the space between the you and the {You}. Take a pause to surrender to your intuition and the parts of you that know you best.

Every moment offers a chance to connect and to be intentional with everything that you do. Even if that means you are intentionally choosing to do nothing at all.
