How to Prepare for a Quantum Healing Hypnosis Session
If you’re considering a session or have recently booked a quantum healing hypnosis session, you might be wondering what you need to do to prepare. Before my first session, I spent hours googling tips and checklists, trying to make sure I did everything “right.”
After experiencing multiple sessions and facilitating them myself, here’s what actually helps: let go of trying to make it perfect. The tips below are compiled from my own experience and feedback from clients.
The Real Preparation is Internal
When people ask how to prepare, they’re usually looking for a sense of control. I offer some practical suggestions below, but the real preparation isn’t about what you do the night before, how many spiritual books you’ve read, or how often you meditate. In fact, too much information can become a hurdle and you may end up expecting a specific experience or outcome.
The real preparation is your willingness to show up as you are right now, with your doubts, fears, skepticism, hopes, and questions. You don’t need to be “spiritually ready.” You just need to be honest with yourself and open to whatever comes through.
Expectations often become the limitations of your potential.
Let Go of the Outcome
What I have found to be the most important thing about preparation is releasing your attachment to how the session should go.
I’ve had clients certain they’d experience vivid past lives who instead received symbolic imagery that made far more sense for their healing. Others came with a career question and ended up accessing a lifetime that explained their deepest relationship patterns.
Your Higher Self knows what you need to see, understand, and heal. Most likely even better than your conscious mind does. When you decide ahead of time what should happen, you’re essentially telling your Higher Self, “I know better.” The Higher Self, however, sees across multidimensional perspectives and is always guiding you toward exactly what supports your growth.
Stay curious instead of certain. Trust that what comes through is what needs to come through, even if it looks different than you imagined.
Preparing for an In Person QHHT Session
QHHT stands for Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique, the original method developed by Dolores Cannon. Sessions are in-person and typically last 4-6 hours. You can read more about this particular technique [here].
Before the Session
- Your Question List
Prepare a list of questions you want to ask your Higher Self. It can be about health, relationships, life purpose, recurring patterns, or anything that feels important. Write them by hand if possible; the physical act of writing helps clarify what you truly want to know. Also don’t try to make them sound spiritual. Just write what you actually want to understand.
- Physical Comfort
Wear comfortable, loose clothing. You’ll be lying down for a few hours, layers are also recommended so that you can adjust if you get too warm or cold.
Eat something light before the session. I also recommend bringing bottled water or tea.
- Clear System
Avoid alcohol and recreational substances the day before, you want your system as clear as possible. Limiting caffeine can help, but if skipping it gives you a headache, have your coffee in moderation.
Get a decent night’s sleep if you can, but don’t stress if you can’t. Some of the best sessions I’ve facilitated have been with people who barely slept the night before.
- Set an Intention
You may want to set a general intention such as “I’m open to receiving what I need to know” or “I trust my Higher Self to guide this experience.” Simple is best.
On the Day
- Please arrive on time and plan for the time commitment. A session can range from 4-6 hours.
- Silence your phone. This is your time to disconnect from the outside world and connect inward.
- Trust the process. If it feels like you’re “making it up” or nothing dramatic is happening, that’s normal. Your analytical mind will try to narrate and judge, let it. Just ask it to step aside and become an observer. The healing comes through regardless.
Preparing for BQH Sessions
(Online or In-Person)
BQH stands for Beyond Quantum Healing follows similar principles to QHHT but is more flexible and can be conducted via Zoom or in person. Sessions typically run 3–5 hours. You can read more about this technique [here].
Before the Session
- Technology Check (For Online Sessions)
Test your internet connection, camera, and microphone ahead of time. Use headphones for audio quality. Close other programs to avoid notifications, and let anyone you live with know you’ll be unavailable for several hours.
Be sure to close other programs on your computer to avoid notifications or distractions. Let anyone you live with know that you’ll be unavailable for several hours.
- Your Question List
Same as above. Write your questions by hand, keep them honest, and don’t overthink the wording.
- Create Your Space
Whether online or in person, be somewhere you can fully relax such as your bed, a couch, or a reclining chair. Have blankets and a pillow nearby, dim the lights if that feels comfortable, and keep water within reach. The goal is to eliminate physical distractions so you can drop into the experience.
On the Day
- Clear your schedule. Give yourself time to integrate afterward.
- For online sessions, close the door and unplug from distractions. Make sure your space feels private and safe.
- You’ll be an active participant by talking, describing what you experience, and answering questions. Just say whatever comes through without filtering or second-guessing it. I’ll record the session and email it to you afterward.
- Let go of the outcome. What needs to happen, will.
After the Session
- Avoid anything strenuous. Eat something and rest.
- Listen to the recording. Things that seemed confusing during the session often make sense later, and details you forgot may resurface. Insight can continue arriving long after the session ends.
- Be gentle with yourself. You might feel emotional, clear, relaxed, or energized. Always keep in mind that whatever you feel is exactly right.
The Most Important Thing to Remember
You can’t mess this up.
There’s no perfect way to prepare and no right or wrong experience. The clients who get the most from these sessions arrive willing to trust themselves and release the need to control the outcome.
My three recommendations for a successful session:
- Don’t force anything. The more you try to control it, the harder it becomes to relax into it.
- Don’t compare your experience to others’. You may have read about dramatic past-life experiences or healing moments but yours will be its own.
- Don’t judge yourself during the process. Thoughts like “I’m not deep enough” or “I’m making this up” are just your analytical mind doing its job. Notice them and let them pass.
Your Higher Self isn’t a separate or unattainable being. It is the wisest part of you, and it’s always been there. This session simply creates the space for you to remember that connection and access what’s already within you.
