Losing Your Mind Isn’t Breaking

We often think of “losing our mind” as a failure, a loss of control, a fracture, a breakdown, a reflection of our worth and self. But perhaps, it is not a breaking at all.

It is a shedding of the “mind” that we cling to. The inaccurate self-image that narrates who we think we are rather than who we truly are. A socially constructed mask that has been created through language, our ever changing memory, and habits. The ego is a convenient character that although helpful in navigating our time here, but often leaving out the important note that it is never the whole story.

When the ego-system begins to dissolve and the mind starts to unravel its grip, it often feels like everything is falling apart. But in reality, something much deeper is occurring. You are letting go of the parts of yourself that were or are no longer needed for your growth. You need to let it unravel so that you can expand beyond those limitations and let everything fall into place.

The thinker, planner, worrier, controller, the “you” that is trying to manage everything, is all part of this “mind”. It is only a tool and not who you truly are.

Let it dissolve so that you are no longer running from an ego-system and your true ecosystem can begin to rebuild and reflourish itself with the new energy, frequency, and manifestations waiting to flow to you. Let of of it with love and gratitude as you rediscover the inherent intelligence of the body, wisdom in stillness, and the practice of being completely in the present as it unfolds.

Our bodies inherently know how to live, survive, and respond. Breathing, blinking, circulating, healing a wound, recovering from a cold, the body doesn’t need reminders or instructions to do these things. It is often the mind that overthinks, worries, or over-identifies its role causing us to lose touch with this natural intelligence.

Stillness isn’t just about being physically quiet. It is the ability to stop the endless chatter of the mind that is constantly planning, worrying about the past, present, future, and trying to control outcomes. To access peace, clarity, and intuition, practice stillness.

Being fully in the present means that you are fully experiencing what is happening right now without filtering it through judgement, memory, or interpretation. The following list below are some suggestions that have worked for me and I thought I would share them so that you could give them a try for yourself.

  • Sensory Awareness
    • Smelling the aroma of coffee without thinking about your schedule.
    • Watching a sunset, noticing the shifting colors and clouds passing by without thinking about tomorrow.
  • Physical Awareness & Movement
    • Walking barefoot on grass, noticing every step and the pressure under your feet.
    • Stretching or exercising focusing entirely on how your body moves and feels rather than calories or reps.
  • Mental/Emotional Presence
    • Listening to someone talk without planning your response.
    • Observing your thoughts as if they are clouds. Light and only passing through. No need to cling to them or analyze and judge them.
  • Everyday Moments
    • Washing the dishes and noticing the feel of the water and repetitive movement of your hands.
    • Place your hand over your water and add infuse intentions into it. Then drink it slowly, noticing the coolness and sensation as it travels down your throat.
    • Sitting quietly and only observing your surroundings. The light, the sounds, the interactions and movements. All without assumptions, beliefs, and judgments.

Let go of control and embrace the present. This is how you honor and trust everything that is inherently in you. Each moment offers a chance to reconnect with your Self to feel fully alive and to step into your purpose.
